This is Bertram. Bertram always flies in from the other side of the field landing directly in front of my feet – with big eyes and knowing that I have an extra big peanut for him in my pocket. I hand it to him and he carefully takes it out of my fingers.

Hated, loved, misunderstood

While many people tend to condemn and misunderstand them, there are those who have a great fascination for the clever corvids. In quite a number of studies these intelligent birds play a leading role, either cheeky or shy, but always attentive. With wary eyes they observe what happens around them and seem to intuitively know who is well-disposed towards them.

Being one of the latter it’s about time for me to put in a good word for my feathered friends.
